Week 183 Wrap Up

One of the major hallmarks of this fandom is its creativity. This fandom an unusually high proportion of fan artists. Painters, musicians, sculptors, animators, and many other creative types have applied their talents to My Little Pony, spreading ponies far and wide through the internet. And while this may have proved annoying to some people, it has also helped to attract others to ponies. Indeed, I myself became interested in Friendship is Magic because of exposure to fanart (and pony memes) online.

This creativity is the inspiration for the Newbie Artists Training Grounds, and thus for this deviantART group. They're both attempts at nurturing this creative spirit through the simple act of providing prompts for pictures, and thus giving artists theme ideas beyond what they might normally come up with themselves. So, I think it's time for me to stop yapping, so we can see what interpretations people have come up with for this theme:

I am of the belief that you can never be too old to enjoy the things that you loved in childhood. Maybe you can find new appreciations for them, maybe you never lost your old appreciation.

Maybe the joy comes in passing toys on to your own children and seeing them experience the same joy you felt. These are treasures old and new, timeless joys and nostalgic visions.

Week 181 Wrap Up

Oh dear, I'm gonna be late! I gotta write this quickly, if I'm gonna have any chance of finishing before the deadline. I wish I could've started working on this earlier, but things have just been so hectic recently. Between working on various projects, the Newbie Artist's Training Grounds, and helping to run the ATG Alumni, I've just got so much time and so little to do!

Scratch that, reverse it.

And I'm not the only one who's been busy as of late. A great many people have been rushing around, trying to accomplish all that they need and/or want to do. But fortunately, some time was found for more creative purposes, showcasing some of the ponies who have been very busy in their own right:

Week 180 Wrap Up

Over the past several weeks, we've seen pony themes covering all four of the classical elements of nature: Water Ponies, Air Ponies, Earth Ponies, and Fire Ponies. And now, we add Crystal Ponies to the list. Now you may be wondering why Crystals would be important in this set of themes. After all, a crystal would normally be considered part of the Earth element. The reason would be the centerpiece of crystal pony civilization: the Crystal Heart! This artifact's magical power connects directly to the emotional state of the empire's citizens, with the Heart's magic growing stronger as the crystal ponies emotions grow more positive.

Indeed, this artifact shows pretty clearly that 'Heart' can be a very powerful force. And when you combine Heart with the classic four elements, you get a force for good that no corrupt villain can stand against! So, all together now:
