Week 271 Wrap Up

Zounds! Thou hast cometh! Alas and alack, thine presence warms the very cockles of my heart! Forsooth, that time is verily upon us! Hmm. 'Verily upon us'... is that correct?

Bah, enough of that. Ye Olde Canterlot Speak is almost as hard as emulating Zecora, and I don't think any fantasy gamers actually speak that way anyways. Or at least, not any more. So yeah, enough of that.

Fantasy has been the name of the game this week, and the gaming ponies are out in force! So set aside your multi-sided dice and foam-covered swords, and take a gander at our fantasy-themed gallery! Perhaps you'll find some inspiration for your next game.

Forget roleplaying, how about an entire roleplaying game? This was supposed to be part of a larger comic but this ended up looking so good, I decided to export it standalone, title and all, and now I'll use this at the ATG submission instead. And yes, this is what I look like in Runescape right now.

Week 270 Wrap Up

Chitter clack. Clickety chirp chirp, buzzbuzzbuzz! Uhh... Clacky thorax? Hmm. Trying to communicate in bug-speak doesn't seem to be working; I'm just getting confused looks from all of you. Maybe it would work better if I actually knew an insect language.

So yeah, no more attempts at insect speak. If I'm not careful, I could accidentally say something rude about a changeling's mother. And you wouldn't want a changeling mad at you! And why do you not want a changeling mad at you, you might ask? Because they're master pranksters! And believe me, you do not want to find yourself involved in a prank war with a shapeshifter!

But thankfully, we don't need to worry about that now, as pranks were last week's theme. So go ahead and enter our gallery now, and peruse this weeks artistic creations without any fear of me being a changeling in disguise that will put 'Kick me' signs on your backs as soon as you walk past me.

No seriously, I'm not a changeling. Would this face lie to you? *fangy grin*

Week 269 Wrap Up

Ah, you've come to visit the gallery to see the new art this week, eh? Well, I'm so sorry, but the gallery is just closing for the night. You'll need to return tomorrow to see everything, I'm afraid. Have a good night, and see you tomorrow!

Psyche!!

Hah, got ya! I bet you actually thought the gallery was closing for the night, didn't you? But nope, it was just a prank. Because that's the theme for this week: Jokes and Pranks! So feel free to peruse the gallery and see what other shenanigans the various ponies have been getting....

Wait, what are you planning to do with those tomatoes? Uhh, gotta go!

I'm probably the only one who can take such a benign phrase (IE, taking the act of doing a prank and calling it a joke and turning it into questioning my own art style as being unnoticed and unclassifiable and calling it a joke in and of itself) and turn it into something heavy. If this is too contrived for this week's theme, then feel free to reject this image, and if not, then just remove this sentence.

Week 268 Wrap Up

As the old saying goes, "Into everypony's life, a little rain must fall." And the Art Gallery is no exception to that, unfortunately. And I say 'unfortunately' because the rain came in the form of a rain of go-karts. Seriously, we had a number of go-karts crash through the roof of the gallery! Or at least parts of go-karts, as none of them were actually intact before impact. Apparently there was a massive crash at the annual Applewood Derby, and pieces of the crashed karts went flying throughout Ponyville. I have no idea why the ponies in charge of the race built a track that crosses over itself multiple times, as it really was just an accident begging to happen. Though from what I've heard, the track layout isn't solely to blame. Apparently there were three ponies in the race who... well, let's just say that some ponies take things far too seriously.

Thankfully, the Ponyville Repair Team treats their job with just the right amount of seriousness, and thusgot the roof repairs done with plenty of time to spare for this evening's debut. But that isn't at all surprising, given how much experience the Ponyville Repair Team has. You know, living right next door to the Everfree Forest, and all that.

But without further ado, may I present to you our new gallery! This week's them is... huh, racing and crashing. Perhaps the Applewood Derby wasn't the only accident waiting to happen this week.

Week 267 Wrap Up

Dana nana nana nana
Nana nana nana nana, Batmare!

This week's theme, as I had originally suggested it, was "Brains vs Action". But Invidlord quickly came up with the better phrasing seen in the DA Journal, "An Action Pony / A Clever Pony". After all, brains and action don't need to be mutually exclusive, as Batmare has shown on many occasions. And Daring Do as well, for that matter.

But having both of these present in a story doesn't require them to be present in a single character. Many duos and teams will have at least one member who is action-oriented, and at least one who is clever. Just look at the Mane 6 themselves: Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle are good representatives for action and cleverness respectively, and neither one is the only member of the group that can fit the role in question.

So with that in mind, let's direct our attention to the pictures in this week's gallery. Some of them focus on a single concept, while others represent a combination of the two, but they all are impressively done!

Week 266 Wrap Up

Trying to come up with this entry is like creating a picture of a polar bear in a blizzard. Yep, I'm drawing a blank.

Old jokes aside, this has been a very boring week. Not because it's been dull or anything, but because Boredom is actually this week's theme. A time to reflect on those occasions that one doesn't normally reflect upon. Like the wait in the doctor's office for the start of your appointment. You know, the one that was scheduled to start an hour earlier. Or those lazy days where you have nothing to do, or just don't feel like doing anything. I've certainly had days like that.

Of course, like many things, boredom is in the eye of the beholder. Some ponies fully enjoy lazy days with nothing to do, for example. Likewise, while I personally would be bored by several hours worth of rock-inspired poetry, those who have earned Rocktorates would likely fully enjoy such a performance. On the other hoof, Rock and Roll-inspired poetry sounds to me like it could be quite entertaining, but would likely bore those who prefer classical music.

But I digress. Before I risk boring you all with an overly long spiel, I shall step aside and allow you to peruse this week's creations. And don't worry; though this week's subject may be 'Boredom', the pictures themselves are still anything but boring!

Week 265 Wrap Up

You're probably expecting me to do one of my frequent 'screw things up'-style starts tonight, aren't you? But not this time! Just because the theme is 'Embarasment', doesn't mean I'm gonna embaras myself! I swear to Princess Celestia that nothing at all will go wrong today! Wait, what did you say? 'Embaras' is actually spelt 'embarrass'?

*Groan* Some days you just can't win.

Well, as I have unintentionally demonstrated, this has been a week for ponies who are, shall we say, "red in the face". And not merely because they have red coats. Things don't always go as planned, and the end results of such misadventures may very well involve a good deal of blushing. And before I embaras... err, 'embarrass' myself with another misadventure of my own, I'm going to bring this spiel to a close and direct you towards the gallery. Feel free to peruse this week's creations, and in the process stare at red faces other than my own.
