Week 189 Wrap Up

Some ponies say that money is the root of all evil. Others say the root of all evil is an actual physical manifestation of Evil that possesses ponies who have fallen from grace, but that's besides the point. Bits, gold, gems, and more; wealth can take many forms. And maybe even more than physical wealth.

Dragons wallow in massive hoards of wealth, known to the ounce. Ponies don't really have a need for piles of bits and coins. They'd be awfully uncomfortable to lay on, I'd imagine. Not to mention hard to walk through. And gems are pretty pointy, you wouldn't want one poking into hoof. So, maybe a hoarding pony is a little out of the question. Unless they're hoarding something like sweaters, or kittens.  Actually... that'd be adorable.

This week we have many ponies who have, for better or worse, struck it rich. Giant gems and rich geodes, greedy sneaks and pictures of love to show what true wealth really is. So take a moment to find your center, look not with greed or jealousy, lest a terrible Dragon Sickness take you, and sneak a peek at riches beyond imagining in this week's gallery.

A pony striking it rich When I saw the prompt, the first thing I thought of was someone becoming a new parent. Then I thought of Twilight, the character whose days of beginning motherhood would be the most stressful. Having a baby throws everything orderly about life right out the window. Twilight, with her OCD, perfectionism and tendency to panic attacks would be blindsided by motherhood. I can see her as the mom that has read every book there is on every child-rearing subject. If any of you watched the TV show House, I think it would be like when Cuddy is first getting used to her adopted daughter and pulls a used diaper out of her purse when the child services guy drops by for a visit. But then, in one of the rare quiet moments, when she feels the warmth of her daughter against her and watches her chest rise and fall as she sleeps, Twilight will realize that all the chaos, all the sleepless nights, all the diapers and imperfectness her life has fallen to is worth it; because this little person is the most beautiful, most precious, perfect thing in the world.

Week 188 Wrap Up

What should I write here? I... just can't decide! So let's just cut to the chase and show this week's creations right now!

No, wait. That would set a terrible precedent. If I did that, then I would feel like I could get away with just writing a line or two in future blog entries. And so would the other mods. We don't need that sort of laziness around here, so write a full post it is!

But what's the point of trying to write a full entry if I can't figure out what to write? I could end up taking far too long and overshoot the deadline. And you know what that means: I'd be tardy! And we all know what happens when somepony is tardy. Chaos! Corruptive magic! Love poisons! No, wait, that was a different episode...

Bah, I just can't decide what to do. We need something here, but I just can't seem to decide exactly what it should be. I must say that it certainly would be great if a post just appeared out of nowhere... *looks up*

Week 187 Wrap Up

Who's a Silly Pony?

It's a question which has baffled scholars since they first named diminutive equines, and philosophers first created the concept of 'silliness'. Yes, since the times of the ancient Greek forums, the debate has raged. Who IS a silly pony?

While today, most everyone agrees that it is, in fact, Applejack, who is a silly pony, many heated debates still spring up around this topic. Is Rainbow Dash not also a silly pony? Is she quantifiably sillier than Applejack in any given measurement of silliness? Perhaps!

And so, today, we look at the collected evidence of our past weeks research into the subject.  Do we have a definitive answer? No, I'm sure we don't. How can we hope to answer in a week what the greatest minds of our time struggle their entire lives to determine?

None the less, we present to you all, the art of silliness. I hope you all take a moment to pause, reflect, put on glasses with a fake nose, and dance around while playing a kazoo or party noise maker.

Week 186 Wrap Up

Ahh, it's been a good week. Basking in the glow of all these ponies happy smiles. The warmth of the radiant sunshine, or perhaps the glowing aura of the mysterious moon? Well, no matter the source, ponies just seem to generally enjoy the light, don't they?  Even Eternal Night isn't all that gloomy when you look up into the sky and see the moon and stars lighting the way... of course, there are other problems with eternal night, but that's not what we're here for this time!

Sunlight, Moonlight, Neon light, or just plain light bulbs, a glow isn't necessarily something coming from outside. Some ponies possess an inner glow, a warmth and light from within that bolsters those around them. They stand up against the dark, laughing at the scary, radiating with kindness, or generosity.  They are loyal, faithful, honesty, and... well, I think you may guess who I'm referring to with that.

And, of course, I'd be remiss without referring to the radiant beauty of a special somepony... but... that might just be me. It's... it's all in the eyes. Those kind of eyes which draw you into the infinite depths, like the light of eternity which makes even the stars seem dim and garish. Her smile, like a warm hug that raises the heart up to the heavens. *sigh*... I think I'm in love.

Week 185 Wrap Up

Well, it's that time again. Time to look back over the past week and see what sort of artwork has been created. And I was looking forward to seeing everyone's artwork, but I just don't know what to expect. You see, I've got a little problem: I can't remember what the theme is.

Looking back, I have a pretty good idea of why this is. I've been distracted by life and gaming and Twitch streams; I just haven't been paying any attention to art. And as I move forward into the future, I will need to focus more on this. I don't want to have this sort of conversation with you guys again, after all. Or with the other admins; that sort of back-and-forth is just not fun!

But let's back it up a bit here. I doubt that you guys care all that much about such issues. It's time for me to stop looking back, and instead be more forward thinking. So, let's go forth and take a look at the art created this week; that's what you're here for after all!

Week 184 Wrap Up

Welcome, 2015! A new year is upon us, and that means... a new year of themes, art, ponies, and best of all... friends. With the end of the holiday season behind us, I do hope that each and everyone spent the time with those you love.

Ponies most of all spend the holidays cozied up with friends and family. There's no fields to work, no crops to bring in. The weather outside is cold, a purifying blanket of snow to rejuvenate the land for next year. And so, what are these ponies doing over the long holiday break?

Ponies celebrating the holidays snuggle up, they play games in the snow, and many ways more. So with the wrap up of this Hearth's Warming Eve season, let's take a look below and see how they celebrate the holidays; 'Pony Style'!
